10 – Day Tour of Laos
Day 1: Arrive Pakse: Welcome to Laos. Arrive in Pakse, situated in southern Laos near the Thai border, at the confluence of the Mekong and Se Don rivers.
Day 2: Pakse: Spend the day exploring this naturally beautiful and cool climate elevated region. Visit tea and coffee plantations and see dramatic waterfalls and high spectacular gorges.
Day 3: Pakse – Don Khong: Visit Wat Phu Temple linked by ancient highways to Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. Continue to the 6-mile long Khone Pha Pheng Falls.
Day 4: Don Khone – Vientiane: Embark on a traditional long-tail boat and cruise amongst the Si Phan Don riverine archipelago, explore this peaceful rural island where locals live out a simple life. See awesome Liphi Waterfalls, and arrive in Vientiane, with laidback ambiance and old-world charm.
Day 5: Vientiane: Full day touring Vientiane’s most significant landmarks, Temples, and historic buildings.
Day 6: Vientiane – Xiang Khoang – Phonsavan: Visit the enigmatic “Plain of Jars” this megalithic archaeological landscape consists of around 2,500 sandstone jars grouped together in clusters over a vast area.
Day 7: Phonsavan – Sam Neua: After visiting a second site at the Plain of Jars, we travel to the small riverside town of Sam Neua, take a pleasant riverside stroll, and tour the vibrant and photogenic food market.
Day 8: Sam Neua – Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang: Travel from Sam Neua to Luang Prabang via Nong Khiaw, regarded as one of the most photogenic spots in Laos for its spectacular, steep limestone cliff scenery. On this road journey, enjoy vistas of forested mountains and timeless rural villages surrounded by rice fields.
Day 9: Luang Prabang: Luang Prabang is considered the heart of Laotian culture. Explore this incredibly picturesque town on a guided walking tour, Continue to picturesque Kuang Si Waterfall, one of the region’s biggest waterfalls.
Day 10: Leave Luang Prabang: Cruise along the Mekong River on a local-style long tailed boat to where the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers converge. See the grottoes that house over 4,000 Buddhist statues and images. Return to Luang Prabang and transfer to the Luang Prabang International Airport for your onward flight
